New Home + Mostly the Same Things 🪩
DO YOU WANT THE HOUSE TOUR
Hi team,
In August, through a combination of luck and privilege and oversharing and good people, Sam and Hatchy and I bought a house. After a decade of strange and wonderful and insecure living situations, we’re putting down roots among the loons and cedars. Housing on this island (and all over) is inequitable and I feel like I’m bragging when I talk about my house while so many friends are deep in the housing crisis. That said, I want to share joy and home-art and nesting with you all!
I’ve been appreciating the objects that have stayed with us through many moves—and also, always, the value of handmade everything. Here are some highlights.
Wreath on our door: made at a workshop with Little Red Flower Truck. Disco ball: bought for our wedding, survived many homes. Climbing wall: the first and most important home improvement, credit to Sam.
Studio! Lots of hardware store plywood and crates. Curtains + green plaid pillow: sewn by my mom. Little green broom: art trade with Redmond Philbert Handwork. Intertidal wall hangings: on my website; just three left. Thread storage: scored by begging to take these from JoAnn’s Fabrics as they went out of business.
Mini White Mountain School patch print: I have just a couple of these left, $6, email me if you want one. Booth banner: I made this before the 2021 International Climbers’ Festival when my name was Emma Longcope and flipped it over to write my new name. 20 x 14” Plants of MDI print: on my website. Lockers: bought on sale from women-owned, kinda-fancy brand Mustard Made. Loon coat: the one embroidered jacket I’ve kept for myself—a forever work-in-progress.
Metal cups: freebies from my outdoor industry event years. Cool green fabric and some materials: Ebb & Flow in Blue Hill. Still to do: make color-coordinated labels for thread storage.
Kitchen + “dining room” are upstairs; it’s a flip-flopped house! Table: was my grandparents’. Tree: from our yard. Postcard sets: Plants of MDI + Current Textures, on my website. Woven towels used as placemats: from a Haystack workshop with The Cultivated Thread.
Quilted wall hangings: sewn by my mom (this is becoming a hype post for my mom, who makes things and doesn’t sell them sorry)! Framed buoy print: my eco-art pal Mariah Reading. Woven wall hanging: Veronica Spann, my pal who is not only an incredible photographer but also an incredible fiber artist. Dressers: thrifted from Revive 365 in Littleton, NH. Rust rug: Hook & Loom eco-cotton.
2026 Places in Common Calendar: on my website. 14 x 7” Plants of MDI print: also on my website.
I’m past email length limit but could keep sharing forever—do we want a part two? Ask me any questions about home things I haven’t mentioned.
Also: I’m going to the post office every day this week! You still have time to order things before Christmas, I think? No guarantees but probably!
Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has supported my work this season. It means the world!
With gratitude,
